Flag Recognition

On Nov. 14, Michael Rhodes, a member of the Richard Henry Lee chapter of the Virginia Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, at right, presented the SAR Flag Recognition certificate to the Claybrook Baptist Church in Weems. Receiving the certificate for the church was the Rev. Dennis Martin. The SAR Flag Recognition certificate is given to individuals and organizations that properly display the American flag. The presentation was made in conjunction with the church’s Veterans Day ceremony. As part of that ceremony, the church had the names of all veterans associated with the church, from the Civil War through all America’s wars up to the present day recognized. Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie delivered the message at the event relating his family’s military history and speaking in particular about his son, Wyatt, a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps, now stationed at NAS Pensacola where he is undergoing flight training.
