Two Mathews growers of fresh produce will talk about their products and provide a tasting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23 at the Mathews Museum, 200 Main Street.
Christian Brown, mushroom grower and owner of Mush Love in Mathews, specializes in several varieties of mushrooms, include shiitakes, oysters, lion’s manes, chestnuts, Reishi and turkey tail. He said, “Mathews has the perfect environment for the cultivation of mushrooms. It is surrounded by water and receives more rainfall than the state average across other counties, lending to high humidity levels which aid in the fruiting of mushrooms.”
Mark Zamanian of Blessed Harmony Farms in Mathews grows various crops on his farm. Both he and Brown are familiar faces at Mathews Farmers’ Market.
Doors open at 5:30. The program is open to the public at no charge. Space is limited; reservations are recommended, by calling 804-695-4664....
