Mathews Memorial Library is ending the summer with back-to-back concerts, one tonight and the other on Friday, both sponsored by Friends of the Mathews Memorial Library. The Virginia Symphony Brass Quintet will perform at 7 o’clock tonight, Thursday, Aug. 21, in the last event of the Soothing Sounds of Summer series. Above, the quintet is shown performing at Mathews Library last summer. Tomorrow, Three Creeks Down (Tristan Barnes, Hunter Owens and Hayden Owens, in bottom photo from left) will present a concert for teenagers at 4 p.m. in the library courtyard. There will be a food truck and lively music to celebrate the end of summer. Both concerts are free and open to the public....
