Emmanuel United Methodist Church at Bohannon has collected a pickup truckload filled with non-perishable food items and delivered them to Mathews Social Services.
The collected items were arranged on the church altar and blessed by the pastor, the Rev. Jennifer Mercer.
A release said the food is destined for people who may need a little extra support this year.
In addition, the women of Emmanuel and Grace-Providence UMC, who are known as the West Mathews United Methodist Women, have been putting together Christmas stockings for a number of children in the community, and these will also be distributed through Mathews Social Services.
