Bethlehem and Bethany United Methodist churches, along with Gloucester Rotary Club and the Abingdon Ruritan Club, partnered with the Society of Saint Andrews to host a “potato drop” on Saturday, Oct. 17. Despite cool temperatures and chilly rain, more than 50 volunteers from local organizations, including the Gloucester High School Beta Club members, worked together to pack and distribute 20,000 pounds of sweet potatoes provided by Kirby Farms from Hanover County.
