Several members of the Gloucester High School varsity softball team were named to the Eastern Region Division 4 team.
Sophomore pitcher Autumn Cookson led the way for Gloucester by being named first team all-region and the regional player of year for the second consecutive year. At the time of voting, Cookson had a pitched game record of 14-0 with a 0.36 earned run average (ERA) with an opponent’s batting average (OBA) of .104 and 169 strikeouts. Offensively, Cookson hit a .526 with 41 RBIs.
Avery West was also named first team all-region pitcher as the freshman finished the regional tournament with a record of 9-0 with one save. West compiled 117 strikeouts in 46 innings pitched. She had an ERA of 0.15 and an OBA of 0.60. West hit .519 through the regional tournament with 46 RBIs.
Junior catcher Cameron Palas was voted as first team catcher. She hit .573 in the regular season and recorded 37 RBIs. Palas will enter her senior year with over 100 RBIs and 100 hits in her career.
