Editorial: Know your county board: Gloucester

“I’d like to call the Jan. 2 meeting of the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors to order.”

With these words from board chairman Chris Hutson, a new year in Gloucester County governance got underway.

The county board, with seven members, formulates the annual budget and bears ultimate responsibility for almost all operations, large and small, that take place within its borders.

The Gloucester board has seven members: one each from the five county magisterial districts, and two who serve at large. Members are elected to four-year terms, and to ensure continuity, supervisors are elected on a staggered basis: four one year, and three in an election two years later.

If you have a problem; if you have strong feelings for or against an issue; if you have an idea that will improve your county: you cannot go wrong by contacting the supervisors to make your voice heard. Below is information on how to reach each member.
