Editorial: A need for compromise

“Nobody knew health care could be so complex.”

President Trump uttered those words back in February, and if there was a single person (other than President Trump himself) who honestly believed a legislative solution to providing affordable health care for all Americans would be a slam dunk, it’s a safe bet to say that that person has changed his or her mind by now.

After one attempt to repeal and replace Obamacare made it through the House of Representatives, but no further, the Senate version looks like it, too, has entered choppy waters. Sen. Mitch 

McConnell put off a vote until after the July 4 holiday recess and is making adjustments to the bill in an effort to get the necessary 51 GOP votes to send it to the House.

If successful, Republicans are poised to do the exact same thing they harshly criticized Democrats for nearly eight years before—passing a major piece of legislation affecting millions of Americans along strictly partisan lines.
