Early Christmas morning fire in Bena

Members of the Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue responded to an early Christmas morning structure fire on Mark Pine Road in Bena, according to the AVFR.

The first units on the scene reported moderate smoke coming from the single-story home. An interior attack confined the fire to the room of origin. A working smoke detector was also sounding and all occupants evacuated.

A cat was found which was safely removed. The cat was evaluated by medics on scene and did not need further care. AVFR responded with three engines, a medic, a rescue vehicle, and a tanker along with 15 volunteers. GVFRS responded an engine with manpower. ...
