E.T. ‘PETE’ VAUGHT

A loving father, Pawpaw and friend, Pete traveled into eternal rest Sept. 7, 2011.

He was born in Beckley, W.Va., to the late Oakes and Ruth Vaught. He was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.

Pete retired from Newport News Shipyard, in 2000 and continued to work for Hertz, for the last 10 years. He was an active member of Warwick Moose Lodge 1711 and a member of Beach Grove Baptist Church. A very kind hearted man, he was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone.

He is survived by companion, Jackie Hunt; loved by his daughters, Elizabeth and husband, Matthew Simmons, and Suzanne Vaught; sister, Marion (Ernie) Sowers; and his beloved grandchildren, Amber Duke, Angel Ward, Kendall and Tyler Simmons.

A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, at Beech Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 4073 Cedar Bush Rd., Hayes, by the Rev. Bob Robbins.
