Dukes football revitalizes program for 2025 season

“I think the community is going to see a big change in the Gloucester Dukes football program.”
Gloucester High School football associate head coach C.J. Baker is gearing up for the 2025 season, expressing high hopes for his new team. Joining him is a robust and dedicated coaching staff, including new head coach Ryan Wenner.
“We are running about 70 kids strong right now,” said Baker. This number includes both varsity and JV players.
Practice for the upcoming season is in full swing with the Dukes varsity home opener planned for Thursday, Aug. 28, against the New Kent Trojans.
According to Baker, the coaches have implemented a true strength and conditioning program to help prepare their athletes for the season ahead. Several football athletes were even able to attend camps over the summer to hone their skills at different institutes of higher learning.
“We have really pushed these kids to be seen,” said Baker.
