Dukes’ baseball improves record to 9-1

The Gloucester High School varsity baseball team picked up a pair of wins against Heritage and Hampton last week to improve to 9-1 overall.

The Dukes shut out Heritage at home Friday by a 13-0 margin. Gloucester tallied 13 hits and no errors, while Heritage had one hit and three errors. Dillon Tisdale and Colton Smith were each 3-for-3 at the plate, with Smith also getting a pair of RBIs. Alexander Milligan collected two hits. Austin Shackelford was the winning pitcher for the game.

Gloucester kept up its winning streak Monday afternoon on the road with another shutout, beating Hampton, 19-0. The Dukes had 11 runs and two errors, while Hampton had two hits and four errors. Tisdale led the Gloucester batters with a 4-for-4 performance at the plate with four RBIs. Camden Richardson (2-for-3) and Daniel Giles (2-for-4) also had multiple hits. Tripp Roady went 1-for-3, driving in three runs. The winning pitcher was Gabriel Espiritu.
