The Friends of Dragon Run will hold its “Winter Walk in the Woods” at their Big Island Complex in King and Queen County on Sunday, Jan. 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. Nature guides will point out interesting plants, lichens, and fungus on the forest floor and there will surely be birds flying in the canopy and searching in the undergrowth for food. Hikers will have views of the Dragon Run, feeder streams, and Bald Cypress trees. Following the hike there will be snacks and time to socialize. Registration is required on the Friends of Dragon Run website Dragonrun.org. All who register will receive directions and updates a few days before the event. If you plan to bring children, let the Friends of Dragon Run know; they will have scavenger hunt sheets for them (and the adults) to use during the walk. If you are not a member, you can sign up at Dragonrun.org for a minimum donation of $30....
