Valerie Kelly started Doodlebugs Consignments on Mathews Main Street in 2010, offering a place for people to bring their unwanted items and sell them for money.
“The items become another’s treasure,” said Kelly. “From home furnishings to comics, DVDs to clothing, you name it, we probably have it.”
Movies, household items, collectibles, Wild Berry incense, and American Paint Company chalk paint can all be found at Doodlebugs, said Kelly, and the store as a 50-percent off section and bargain cave, as well. She even does onsite estate sales.
Kelly said she had built a positive relationship with the Mathews community, establishing a reputation for trustworthiness while successfully striving to satisfy every customer and consignor.
A Hampton native, Kelly holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, but she said she has always bought and sold items online.
