Dominion purchases White Marsh property for new substation

Dominion Virginia Power plans to build a new substation at White Marsh that will serve a 115-kilowatt transmission line and help improve electrical service in Gloucester County, corporate spokesperson Daisy Pridgen said Friday.

Plans are for construction to begin in 2016 and be completed in the spring of 2017, Pridgen said.

Prior to construction Dominion will hold a pubic outreach period, possibly a public meeting, to receive comments on the project, Pridgen said.

She said the substation will be a valuable addition for handling operating load and to provide for future growth of electrical service in Gloucester. Dominion recently purchased a 3.27-acre site off Route 17 near the Gloucester Business Park for the substation.

Roadview LLC, whose principal is Harry Corr, sold the property to Dominion. Purchase price of the property, located in Abingdon District, was $227,566.77.
