The Gwynn’s Island Civic League Foundation will hold a “Dine 2 Donate Doubleheader” beginning today, Thursday, July 31, at Mathews Grill and Deli and continuing on Sunday, Aug. 3, at Mi Casa Azteca Mexican Restaurant.
Proceeds will support scholarships and grants for Mathews County Public Schools’ students and classrooms.
The restaurants are located adjacent to each other on Main Street in Mathews. The hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. both days. Dine-in and take-out options are available.
When asked about holding an event, the Benitez Family, owners of both restaurants, couldn’t choose, so they offered both restaurants, donating a portion of each day’s sales to the GICL Foundation, said a press release. As always, foundation members will be on-hand to greet customers and answer questions about plans for the money raised.
A number of local and area businesses have already contributed funds to support this event, said the release.
