Deltas sweep Crickets; showdown Saturday with Tides

Some baseball games are competitive, but other times you have to just go get the job done. That’s exactly what the Deltaville Deltas did last week, blowing past the outmatched, first-year Richmond Camel Crickets in a pair of games by the scores of 14-0 and 14-3.

Competitive action is expected to return to Deltaville Ballpark this weekend in a pivotal matchup with the Deltas’s longtime rival, the Tappahannock Tides. Deltaville sits at 10-2 and in first place in the Richmond NABA East standings; Tappahannock holds a record of 7-4, 2½ games behind the Deltas in second place.

A Delta win on Saturday clinches the division title and a top seed in the August postseason playoffs, while a Tappahannock victory would open the door for the Tides to have a chance to make a run at the regular season title.Saturday’s game begins at 7:30 p.m. at Deltaville Ballpark.
