Deltas rally for opening night win over Norfolk Benchwarmers

Saturday night’s Deltaville Deltas home opener was an exhibition of tremendous defensive plays, and was punctuated by a three-run fifth-inning rally that gave the sold-out home crowd an exciting 5-3 win over the Norfolk Benchwarmers.
Facing an undefeated Norfolk team which had started play in the Hampton Roads NABA earlier in the month, the Deltas found themselves in an early hole. Right fielder Travis Crump stole an extra-base hit away by leaping up against the outfield wall to make a web-gem catch. Norfolk would manage to score the first run two batters later on a two-out RBI double; however, an outfield relay from left fielder Noah Wright and third baseman Caleb Ammons cut down a Norfolk runner at the plate for the third out of the inning.
