Deltas’ bats explode late in 13-3 win

Deltas Travis Crump and Tucker Bratton each homered as Deltaville used an eight-run seventh inning to pull away from the Richmond Avalanche by the score of 13-3 Saturday night in Deltaville.

Crump, the Deltas’ leadoff hitter, gave his team the lead on the second pitch in the bottom of the first inning, launching the pitch over the right field wall for a solo home run. Deltaville extended its lead to 4-0 in the third in a rally capped by Scott Crump’s two-run single.

Richmond halved the Deltas’ lead in the fourth, plating two runs to make the score 4-2. Deltaville plated a run in the fifth, but the Avalanche responded immediately with a run of their own, and the score was 5-3 going into the sixth inning.

After the teams held each other scoreless in the sixth, the Deltas took advantage of an Avalanche pitching change in the seventh. Bratton blasted his two-run homer to get the scoring started, and later Hunter Sturgeon powered a bases-loaded, three-run double to make the score ...
