Decision on GHS sports postponed until Oct. 14

After announcing on Sept. 29 that sports conditioning at Gloucester High School could begin this week, GHS Athletic Director Kristy Hunter informed that Gazette-Journal last Thursday that the decision to allow sports conditioning to begin had been postponed until Oct. 14.

Gloucester Public Schools Superintendent Walter Clemons said he made the change after it was determined that not all of the required contracts for coaching positions had been approved by the county school board. The board is scheduled to meet Oct. 13.

Hunter said she immediately began calling coaches, who had been notified that they could begin conditioning this week, of the new delay. She also has reminded them that they need to stay within the established COVID safety guidelines when conditioning begins.
