Decision expected Tuesday on regional sewer plan

The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors has a heavy agenda and some tough decisions to make at its next meeting, which will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the colonial courthouse.

 

Following months and many hours of discussion, the board is expected to make a decision on whether it will join with 13 other localities to participate in a regional sewer wet weather management plan under the umbrella of the Hampton Roads Sanitation District.

 

Supervisors tabled the matter at its meeting earlier this month, deciding to give it more thought and come in on Tuesday prepared to vote. All 14 localities must agree to join the regionalization effort, which could save the region as a whole $1 billion, according to Gloucester’s public utilities director Marty Schlesinger.
