Linda Grow will present a program on deadrise workboats, their builders and history at 6 o’clock on Friday at this month’s Guinea Heritage Association Fourth Friday program at Buck’s Store Museum, Bena. Grow will share the work of Larry Chowning and his book, “Deadrise & Cross Planked, Definitive Histories of Iconic Chesapeake Bay Vessels,” celebrating the history of the deadrise boat, its builders and highlight the Mobjack. The Mobjack was built in 1946 and remains a piece of local history. The nearly 80-foot buyboat is still operated by owner Richard Green to move seed oysters and shells in Guinea. Grow is shown here with a scaled model of the Mobjack, which is on display at the store museum. There will be time for questions and sharing, as well as light refreshments after the program.
