J. Cordon Davis III recently earned the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter designation.

Davis is an agent at Gloucester-Southside Insurance Agency, Inc., which has its main office on Main Street in Gloucester, and operates a satellite office in Mathews, Diggs Insurance. Owners of Gloucester Southside are Davis’s father, Cordon Davis Jr., and Jay McGlohn, both of Gloucester, and Doug Favre of Hampton.

The younger Davis said it took him more than two years to complete the blocks of study and pass required tests for the designation. He took some classes in Richmond and did a lot of self study.

Davis said Gloucester Southside sells a wide range of insurance products. He specializes in commercial lines. Being an independent agency allows the agents to shop for the best rates for their clients, he said.
