David Robert Simmons, 73, of Ark, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023, in Riverside Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Ithaca, N.Y., and was the son of the late Harold and Alice Vennel Simmons. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force, also in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Gloucester County Public School System as the energy manager.

He was also preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Lois Cass Simmons, and is survived by his children, Christian R. Simmons (Shannon Lynn) and Shannon Lee Berk (Justin); stepdaughters, Cynthia Lynn Cropley, Suzanne Marie Woodard, and Roberta Jean Woerner; sister, Elva Perry; three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

He will be laid to rest in the family cemetery in Ithaca, N.Y., at a later date. Andrews Funeral Home, Gloucester, is in charge of arrangements.
