Animal Care of Gloucester, Hayes, has welcomed new veterinarian Dr. Daniela Lopez to the practice. “I’ve been here around two weeks,” said Lopez. “I used to work at Banfield Pet Hospital in Hampton.” Lopez is a 2023 graduate of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, located in the Caribbean. Ever since she was a child, she wanted to become a veterinarian. Originally from Puerto Rico, Lopez started out in the animal welfare business by volunteering at shelters and taking care of dogs at home. “I never changed it,” said Lopez about her career choice. “I fell in love with it.” Her past experiences have shaped her work as a veterinarian. “In Puerto Rico, there are a lot of stray animals,” she said. “I’m a big advocate for spay/neuter.” At Animal Care of Gloucester, Lopez is looking forward to being an advocate for preventative care and “creating those long-term relationships and educating our pet parents.” She is also ready to help dismantle language barriers that may exist between...
