Newly-elected and current members of the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors learned the ins and outs Tuesday of new iPads and other technology that the county is implementing, during a special day of training at Whitcomb Lodge, Beaverdam Park.

By using iPads, board members will be able to access county documents, communicate with county staff and constituents, and generally stay more in touch with county business more easily, according to Scott Varner, applications integration programmer with the county’s Department of Information Technology.

Varner told those at the training that he is very excited about the potential of this technology to make county processes much easier. He said a prime example of this is when a field worker is away from the office and needs to make a report. "This takes the place of a clipboard," he said. "It’s more efficient."
