County holds meetings to explain proposed ordinance changes

The first of three public meetings to inform county residents of potential changes to the Gloucester County zoning ordinance designed to remove some burdensome regulations will be held on Monday evening at Abingdon Elementary.

Additional public meetings will be held next Thursday, Nov. 17 at Gloucester Library, Main Street Center, and on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at Rappahannock Community College, Glenns. All three meetings will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Each of the meetings will include short presentations at 5:30 and 6:30 summarizing the major changes, followed by opportunities for those attending to speak with staff about specific zoning districts, uses, and/or regulations that most interest them.

County staff, in partnership with the planning commission and board of supervisors, has completed a comprehensive rewrite of Articles 1-9 of the zoning ordinance. Articles 1-9 include regulations for all the zoning districts, permitted uses, supplemental regulations for those uses, ...
