Gloucester High School sophomore Autumn Cookson has been named the Peninsula Sports Club’s 2025 softball player of the year. She was previously honored as the club’s 2024 player of the year.
The Peninsula Sports Club honored Cookson and all other players of the year across all sports on the Peninsula from the 2024-2025 school year Tuesday night at a banquet held at the Boo Williams Sports Complex in Hampton.
Cookson ended her soph-omore season with a record of 14-1 with 169 strikeouts in 89 innings pitched. She also recorded a 1.02 earned run average and an opponent batting average of .116. Offensively, Cookson hit a .506 with 41 RBIs. She recorded nine doubles, two triples and two home runs.
“Coach [Jason] Burns and I are very happy and proud of Autumn’s awards and accomplishments,” said head coach David “Red” Lindsay.
