Clayton Ware returns to Virginia with Rae the Band

Clayton Ware of New York City, a 2016 Mathews High School graduate, is making waves with his soul-funk-blues ensemble Rae the Band, and will be bringing his special sound to area venues during a string of performances next month in Virginia and North Carolina.
Fronted by musicians from across the globe, Rae the Band “combines retro funk rhythms with raw soul vocals for shows that are a mix of deep groove and unfiltered energy—music that moves your body and your feelings,” said a press release.
That energy led to over 1,000 listens within the first 24 hours of the release on Spotify of the band’s first single, “I’ll Be There.”
The tour includes an appearance during Williamsburg’s 2nd Sundays Arts & Music Festival from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, on the main stage at 412 N. Boundary Street, as well as an evening at Willaby’s Café in White Stone from 7-10 p.m. on Thursday, June 12 at 327 Old Ferry Road.
