Finn Ciszewski, a sailor on the Mathews Club Sailing team and member of Fishing Bay Yacht Club, took first place in the 2019 Radial standings for the Chesapeake Bay Yacht Racing Association following the annual Oxford Regatta held Aug. 9-11 in Maryland.
Despite a second-place finish at Oxford, wins at the Maryland State Championships and HaHHampton, as well as second-place finishes at Norfolk and the Virginia State Championships were enough to secure Ciszewski’s spot as the top-ranked Opti sailor in the CBYRA.
This association includes sailors from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, and North Carolina, making Ciszewski one of the top Opti sailors on the East Coast.
The young sailor is now being recruited by the U.S. Olympic Development Team, as well as by the U.S. Naval Academy for his sailing ability. An awards ceremony will follow in December, where Ciszewski will be recognized and sit for a portrait at Annapolis Yacht Club as part of his commendation.
