Church of the Living Word, Gloucester Point, made a major food donation to the Salvation Army of the Virginia Peninsula Gloucester Service Center on Sept. 15.
The church collected and delivered 237 non-perishable items including dry goods, boxed meals, and canned staples to the Gloucester Salvation Army.
This contribution will significantly support the Service Center’s mission to assist families in need throughout Gloucester and Mathews counties, a release stated. “It takes unity within a community during times of uncertainty,” said Stephanie Todd, Social Services Caseworker for the Service Center.
“The Salvation Army would not be able to fulfill its mission to preach the gospel and meet human needs without discrimination, if it were not for the compassion and donations from the community. It is with the greatest love and appreciation that we say Thank you to the brothers and sisters of The Church of the Living Word.”...
