After Christmas has come and gone, what do you do with the tree? Recycling is the best answer.
According to a release from the Gloucester Clean Community office, county residents may drop off live Christmas trees at any of the county’s convenience centers, where they will be transferred to the Middle Peninsula Landfill and Recycling Center and converted to mulch. The convenience centers will accept Christmas trees from Dec. 26 to Jan. 31, 2019.
Before dropping them off, the trees should be free of ornaments, tinsel, lights and tree stands, and placed in the containers used for brush.
Around 200 trees have been collected annually through the recycling program. For more information, call Clean Community at 804-693-5370.
