Christmas tree recycling underway

Gloucester’s Clean Community Office has partnered with Waste Management to offer live Christmas tree recycling at all five convenience centers in the county.

The service is available through Jan. 31. Trees, which are to be placed in designated brush containers, must be completely clear of all tinsel and other décor.

In Mathews

Christmas tree recycling is also underway at the Mathews transfer station on Route 14. The facility, operated by the Virginia Peninsulas Public Service Authority, will be accepting trees until Jan. 16. As in Gloucester, the trees must be clear of ornaments and tinsel. After Jan. 16, the trees will still be accepted, but must be cut in segments of no longer than four feet.
