‘Christmas at Home’ is theme of Saturday’s Mathews parade

“Christmas at Home” is the theme for Saturday’s Mathews Christmas Parade, which will step off from Thomas Hunter Middle School at 1 p.m.

The parade will travel down Church Street, turning at Main Street and ending at the Bank of America parking lot. This year’s parade “celebrates all of the wonderful ladies (and gentlemen) in our lives who make Christmas at home perfect each year,” according to information from the Mathews County Visitor and Information Center.

Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: Civic, Animal, Walking Unit, School, Commercial, Motorized, Church, Parade Theme, and Antique Vehicle.

Santa Claus

The parade is expected to last about an hour. Immediately after and until 5 p.m., Santa Claus will be at the Mathews Visitor Center to meet with children. Parents are invited to bring their cameras. There is no charge for this event. ...
