Alvin Ingram of Gloucester, went fishing Tuesday with his 94-year-old uncle Charles Ingram, and two other younger fishing partners, Nick Koch and the Rev. Roger Collier. “We fished in a somewhat sheltered area of the Piankatank River as the strong northeast wind made fishing difficult, but we roughed it out,” Alvin Ingram said. At left, Charles Ingram shows off a good-sized croaker (weighing about two pounds) and a small spot he just hauled in. “It was a rough but wonderful fishing trip even though we had had a strong northeast wind with gusts up to 27 mph and lots of rolling white-capped waves. There were almost no other boats out fishing,” Alvin Ingram said. He reported that the fishing party caught lots of nice fat September spot and a few small bluefish....
