Chilly temps make for rough fishing

Chilly temperature made for some tough fishing during the last weekend of February at Beaverdam Reservoir, according to Park Ranger Elizabeth Keefer. A few people did report catching black crappie. The latest water temperature reading was 47 degrees.

“We are hoping the warmer weekend ahead will allow for easier fishing and more reports of people catching fish,” she said.

Beaverdam Park is open daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. through March 12, and from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. beginning March 13. Watercraft is available to rent, and the park also sells bait and concessions. Some rental fees and concessions prices increased as of March 1.
