Chesapeake Bank changes focus of its Shop Local initiative

Chesapeake Bank has spearheaded several regional business marketing efforts in recent years. Of late, the bank and partners in nearby communities have switched the focus of the promotions.

Paula Milsted, director of marketing for Kilmarnock-based Chesapeake Bank, said the bank has heavily promoted a Shop Local campaign since 2012. Chesapeake Bank has 13 branches including Gloucester, Gloucester Point and Mathews.

Its latest effort is “The Buck Stays Here,” which Milsted said kicked off in April and is trying to encourage residents to shop more often in the target areas the bank serves—Middle Peninsula, Northern Neck, Williamsburg and Richmond.

Instead of being locked into its previous Third Thursday Shop Local days, the new initiative supports local shopping on a more frequent basis.
