A funeral for Charlie B. Carter of Gloucester, was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 11 in Smithfield Baptist Church, Gloucester. He died July 4, 2017.

He was a member of Smithfield Baptist Church, where he had served as a trustee and member of the Senior Choir for more than 50 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from the Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown, after 30 years of service. He served on the Gloucester County Planning Commission for 18 years.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Marian Jones Carter; daughter, Julia; five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Burial with military honors was in the church cemetery.

Howard Funeral Home, Ark, was in charge.
