CHARLES MILTON PUGH SR.

Charles Milton Pugh Sr. of Mathews, age 71, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, Oct. 30, 2015.

He worked for 45 years as captain of various tugboats. He was a faithful member of St. Matthew UM Church. He was a contributor to the Mathews Maritime Museum. Charles Milton was the founder of the Country Gospel Boys.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Nancy Pugh, and stepson, William Anthony (Tony) Callis.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn H. Pugh; a son, Charles Milton Pugh Jr. (Cherie); a daughter, Suzanne P. Anderson (Robert); a stepson, Stephen M. Callis; sister, Virginia Anne Shipley (Jim); grandchildren, Blaine Callis, Casey Hill, Conner Pugh, Alyson Anderson, Logan Anderson, Luke Anderson, and several nieces, cousins and many, many friends.

The family received friends on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015, from 6-8 p.m. at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews. A funeral service was held Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, at Bethel United Methodist Church, Onemo, Va., at 2 p.m., conducted by Pastor Ralph Satter. Entombment followed at Windsor Garden Cemetery & Mausoleum, Dutton, Va., followed by releasing of the doves.
