The Central Church United Methodist Women of Mathews has created a calendar to honor Louise Witherspoon and memorialize the late Mike Witherspoon for their contributions to their church and community.
Louise was active in many local organizations and took part in several Central Church programs, including the church’s partnership with Three Rivers Healthy Families. She was also the church’s designated photographer. In 2013, Louise and Mike opened their farm as an outdoor event venue for Three Rivers.
Mike was dedicated to the young people of Central Church, as well as to the Three Rivers program. He led the church through the COVID-19 pandemic and helped guide the church through difficult decisions. Mike helped campaign for church member Joice Small to receive the Harvard Book Award. He was an active member of the United Methodist Men.
