Carrie Frances (Fran) Haskett Dixon was called to Heaven on June 19, 2011.

She was born on March 24, 1926 in Pasquotank County, N.C., the daughter of William (Bill) Haskett and Carrie Clagen Haskett.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, John Trollinger Dixon; her parents, and a sister, Mary Hall Freshour.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann Dixon Foster, and a son, John William (Skip) Dixon and his wife Charlotte; four grandchildren, Susan Foster Silvus and husband Adam, Tracy Ann Foster, Jennifer Lynn Dixon and John Edward (Jed) Dixon and wife Amy; four great-grandchildren, Amber Silvus Atkins, Ashley Nicole Silvus, John Calvin (Cal) Dixon and June Elizabeth Dixon and one great-great-grandchild, Logan Charles Atkins.

Frances also leaves behind a long-time companion, her beloved pet, Daisy.

Frances spent most of her life in Suffolk, Va., and Manteo, N.C.; her later years were spent in Mathews, Va.

There was a memorial service on Wednesday, June 22, at 6 p.m. at Kingston Plantation, 985 Kingston Lane in Mathews for friends and family. The family will lay her to rest beside her husband in Suffolk the next day.

Memorial contributions may be made to Gloucester Hospice or the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society in lieu of flowers.
