Canned food drive

Throughout February, students at Mathews Elementary School collected canned goods to donate to Hands Across Mathews. Christina Davis’s kindergarten class collected the most canned goods as a group. Second grader Delaney Sadeg (shown at right with Hands Across Mathews volunteer Andy Jackson) brought in the most canned goods as an individual. Also in the photo are members of Mrs. Davis’s class with Raymond Willis of Hands Across Mathews (at left), school principal Cindy Gray (back row, far left) and guidance counselor Erin Hockenberry (back row, far right). The students are, front row from left, Emma Wiant, Hariah Harris, Sawyer Wagner, Jameson Ripley, Maverick Hurst, Bryce Williams; second row, Holden Kearns, Langston Smith, Eva Boutwell, Campbell Rogers, Logan Kezar; back row, Kayliana Glenn, Ruby Fielding, Aubrey Walden, Blair Williams and Sir Young. Overall, the school collected a total of 347 items.
