Most of the candidates in Gloucester and Mathews counties have relatively small amounts of cash on hand, according to campaign finance reports filed in each county’s general registrar office.

In Gloucester, as of Monday, York district independent candidate Graham Blake had the highest balance in his account of the local candidates, $2,042.63.

Blake received a $300 donation from Evergreen Development Co., a real estate development firm in Illinois; $150 from Gloucester resident David Peebles and $250 from Gloucester resident William Phillips. Blake received in-kind donations from Carter Borden ($350 for wood for signs) and $625 from Value Marketing Systems for Facebook and e-mail setup.

Blake has received $4,799 in cash and in-kind contributions so far this election cycle, and has spent $2,756.37.
