C. BRYON THOMAS

C. Bryon Thomas of Hallieford, Virginia, passed away on Nov. 9, 2018 at Heron Cove in Gloucester, after a brief illness.

Bryon was born on Aug. 26, 1947. He retired in 2010 after teaching History and Civics at Thomas Hunter School in Mathews County for 38 years. He was a graduate of Mathews High School, Class of 1965. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Old Dominion University and received his Master’s Degree from the College of William and Mary. He served in the Virginia Army National Guard for seven years. He was a member of Mathews Chapel United Methodist Church. Since his retirement, he enjoyed his membership at the Mathews Yacht Club. 

He was predeceased by his loving parents, Calvin Thomas and Beulah Rainier Sadler.

Bryon is survived by an extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, special loved one, Allan Serrano, and a host of friends.

It was a source of comfort and pride during his illness that many of his medical professionals and caregivers were former students. He very much appreciated every card, visit, and act of kindness.

A funeral service was held at Mathews Chapel United Methodist Church, Cobbs Creek, on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018, at 3 p.m. A visitation was held from 1-3 at the church until the start of the service, with the Rev. Lisa R. Blackmonson conducting. Interment followed at Milford Cemetery, Moon.
