Brown’s Well Drilling Co., Inc., based in Achilles is celebrating a special milestone this year. It was founded 100 years ago by the late Larry Brown and has remained in the same family from generation to generation.

The original Brown’s grandson, Larry Brown III, currently runs the business, and works alongside his son, Larry Brown IV. 

Larry Brown III said his grandfather went to work for his great-uncle, putting in wells for tomato bushes. “He kept getting more and more requests from people to drill wells for their homes and businesses, and after his great-uncle moved away, the elder Brown started his own business, Brown’s Well Drilling, in 1918.
