Brent and Becky’s Bulbs at Ware Neck recently purchased special equipment that can till the soil and plant thousands of bulbs in a matter of minutes.

The company has already planted bulbs at Brown and Ark parks in Gloucester, general manager Jay Hutchins said, and has lined up jobs in Pennsylvania and New England to take advantage of the machine’s rapid-fire abilities.

Hutchins said he believes his company is the lone business in the United States to use this equipment. Brent and Becky’s bought the bulb-planting machine from JUB Holland, a Netherlands company.

After learning that such equipment was available, Hutchins said representatives from Brent and Becky’s traveled to the Netherlands this spring to see first-hand how the machine operates. JUB Holland manufactures several sizes of the machine; Brent and Becky’s purchased one of its smaller units.
