The Mathews County Board of Supervisors, meeting at 6 o’clock tonight, Thursday, May 15, in the historic courthouse, will have two public hearings.
The board and VDOT will accept public comment on the six-year plan for secondary roads in the county, as well as VDOT’s construction budget for secondary roads for the upcoming year. The estimated construction budget is $17,543, provided through the Unpaved State Telefee. The same amount is expected to be allocated annually to the county through 2031, for a total after six years of $105,258.
The board will also take public comment on a proposal to gift the former Mathews Boys and Girls Club building at 487 Church Street to the Mathews Volunteer Fire Department. The county purchased the building for $575,000 in March for the purpose of turning it into a fire station to replace Station 1 at the corner of Brickbat Road and Church Street.
