Book Author Luncheon to be held at Providence Baptist

Author Mary Wakefield Buxton will be the featured speaker at the York River Circle of The King’s Daughters and Sons Book Author Luncheon at noon on Friday, March 22, at Providence Baptist Church, Ordinary.

Buxton will discuss her recently published book, “The Private War of William Styron.” Having known Styron well, she writes of the Pulitzer Prize winner with passion and personal knowledge of his tumultuous early years, said a press release.

Born in Ohio, Buxton came to Virginia to attend Randolph-Macon College. She married a lawyer from Newport News and began a career in education and as a writer of 12 books, said the release. She holds a degree from William and Mary and a master’s in education from George Washington University. She has also done graduate work at Oxford University. Buxton makes her home in Urbanna with her husband, Chip, and golden retriever, Honey. The Buxtons have two adult children.
