BONNIE RUTH DARDEN FARY

Bonnie Ruth Darden Fary, 93, of Locust Hill, passed from this life and from us on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018.

Bonnie was born on Sept. 21, 1925 in Madras, Alabama, to George Dewey and Willie Mae Darden. Her family then relocated to Ponce De Leon, Florida. On Dec. 18, 1944, she married Russell Willis Fary, a handsome young U.S. Army Air Force pilot stationed at Eglin Field. The two then moved to Locust Hill where they lived for 60 years and Bonnie served as postmistress for 30 years. Her service there, hard work and unforgettable laughter helped her to become a trusted and well-respected member of her community.

Along with her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband; siblings, Ruby Wells and Robert Darden, and her daughter-in- law, Sandra M. Fary.

She is survived by her children, Diane F. Graham (Doyle McIntosh), Russell Willis Fary Jr., and special friend Caryn, Wayne D. Fary; grandchildren, Amy M. Fary, Gregory Felton Graham of Charleston, South Carolina, Kaitlyn D. Fary, and also her beloved cat Smokey.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 10 at Harmony Grove Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the women who provided such incredible care during this difficult time. These women include her home health nurses Angela and Dawn, and her loving caregivers, Alma, Barbara, Patsy and Raquel. They also wish to thank the caring nursing staff of Riverside Walter Reed Hospital and the staff at Direct Access Healthcare.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Middlesex Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 98, Deltaville, Va. 23043 or the Hartfield Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 205, Hartfield, Va. 23071. A heartfelt thanks as well to both of them for always responding with such kindness, help and compassion.
