Earn your Virginia Boating Safety Education Certificate at the Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad Building in Hudgins. U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary instructors will conduct a free Boat Virginia class from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 28. The instructors will lead students through six chapters of the text leading to a 60-question test given at the end of lecture. Upon successful completion of the test, students will receive their Virginia Boating Safety Education Certificate which is valid for the boat operator’s lifetime. This certificate must be carried on board by the operator of all motor boats with 10 H.P. or larger engines. Students are asked to arrive at class by 8:15 to register and receive their Boat Virginia test. There will be a 45-minute lunch break where everyone is on their own.
